Rev. Dr. Ralph Wooten has served past appointments including Phenix City First United Methodist Church Alexandria UMC, Rocky Mount and Louisville UMC and volunteer ministry with Epworth UMC in Eufaula, AL. He served as chairperson of the executive board of Children and Family Connection in Phenix City, Alabama and was active in the Lee-Russell Ministerial Association and volunteers with Communities of Transformation.
Ralph served on the Board of Ordained Ministry of the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the UMC for the past two quadrennia, and will serve a third term this quadrennia. Ralph is a member of the Licensing School Team of the BOM and serves as a mentor to licensed local pastors.
Ralph, (and his wife Janet) are both graduates of the University of Georgia. Ralph attended Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and received his M.Div. in 1993. Ralph also completed his D.Min at Beeson in 2010.
Ralph taught high school English in Eufaula, Alabama for 11 years, coached cross country and soccer, and wrote his doctoral dissertation for his D.Min in 2010 entitled “Building a Healthy Congregation: Equipping for Conflict Resolution and Transformation at Rocky Mount United Methodist, Bakerhill, Alabama.” You can find that dusty tome on a dusty shelf in Samford University library.
Ralph is married to Janet Wooten. Janet serves the AWFUMC as administrative coordinator for Communities of Transformation. They have two married children, Michael and Rebekah. Michael and his wife Vickie live in Austin, Texas, where they both work for the University of Texas, Michael as a computer engineer engaged in research and Vicki is the Assistant to the Dean of Students/VP of Student Affairs. We have two Texas grandpuppies, Savannah and Josie. Rebekah and her husband Anthony live in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Rebekah works as a supervisor with Grace Industries, a wholesale fragrance company, and Anthony is a code enforcement officer with the city of Spartanburg. They share a home with our new granddog Oliver, a rapidly growing Golden Retriever. Ralph and Janet have a sweet old dog named Duke who is Facebook famous. #princessgetsaneggonfridays
Ralph and Janet enjoy spending time with their children and grandpuppies, cooking, taking walks with their dog and long soaks at the beach. They are excited to have Jackson as their home and to engage in ministry with everyone here.
