Order of Worship

INTROIT, He is Lord, Choir

We gather in the name of the risen Lord.
Christ is risen! Alleluia!
We gather as sisters and brothers of the resurrected one.
Christ is risen! Alleluia!
We gather to share our faith and to worship God.
Christ is risen! Alleluia!
We gather to proclaim the good news of Easter!
Christ is risen! Alleluia!

God of the Resurrection, we gather this morning as a community of believers. We come with joy to greet one another and to tell again and again the amazing news:
Christ is risen! Love is victorious over death! You have given us new life in the name of your Son!
May our singing, praying, listening, and proclaiming be a testimony
to the power of your love to make us a new creation as a community of faith.
We pray in the name of the risen Christ. Amen.

OPENING HYMN, Forward Through the Ages, Congregation

  1. Forward through the ages,
    in unbroken line,
    move the faithful spirits
    at the call divine;
    gifts in differing measure,
    hearts of one accord,
    manifold the service,
    one the sure reward.
  2. Wider grows the kingdom,
    reign of love and light;
    for it we must labor,
    till our faith is sight.
    Prophets have proclaimed it,
    martyrs testified,
    poets sung its glory,
    heroes for it died. [Refrain]
  3. Not alone we conquer,
    not alone we fall;
    in each loss or triumph
    lose or triumph all.
    Bound by God’s far purpose
    in one living whole,
    move we on together
    to the shining goal. [Refrain]

Forward through the ages,
in unbroken line,
move the faithful spirits
at the call divine.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH,      The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
 And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
 I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

SOLO, Ken Hundley

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE                The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
for thine is the kingdom,
and the power and the glory forever.  Amen

THE MESSAGE, Great Grace, Rev. Dr. Ralph Wooten

CLOSING HYMN, Blest Be the Tie that Binds, Congregation

  1. Blest be the tie that binds
    our hearts in Christian love;
    the fellowship of kindred minds
    is like to that above.
  2. Before our Father’s throne
    we pour our ardent prayers;
    our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
    our comforts and our cares.
  3. We share each other’s woes,
    our mutual burdens bear;
    and often for each other flows
    the sympathizing tear.
  4. When we asunder part,
    it gives us inward pain;
    but we shall still be joined in heart,
    and hope to meet again.
