Order of Worship

INTROIT                                 Shout to the Lord

Jesus prayed for his disciples, giving them into God’s eternal care.
Jesus prays for us, giving us into God’s care.
Know that you have been blessed with the love of the Savior.
We live in that love and seek to serve God
Open your hearts and spirits now to hear God’s word.
May our lives be open to God’s Spirit and reflect God’s love. Amen.

God and Father of us all, God of incredible surprises, as we gaze into the clouds, remind us that we are standing on holy ground. Place our feet on the pathways of peace, hope, and service. Draw our attention from the vision of the Lord rising to the heavens to be with you and help us to focus on the ministries that you would have us do, even as we acknowledge the presence of Christ with us. Keep us ready and willing always to serve you all our days. Amen.

*OPENING HYMN                Ask Ye What Great Things I Know         No. 163
1. Ask ye what great thing I know,
that delights and stirs me so?
What the high reward I win?
Whose the name I glory in?
Jesus Christ, the crucified.
2. Who defeats my fiercest foes?
Who consoles my saddest woes?
Who revives my fainting heart,
healing all its hidden smart?
Jesus Christ, the crucified.
3. Who is life in life to me?
Who the death of death will be?
Who will place me on his right,
with the countless hosts of light?
Jesus Christ, the crucified.
4. This is that great thing I know;
this delights and stirs me so:
faith in him who died to save,
him who triumphed o’er the grave:
Jesus Christ, the crucified.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH       The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
 And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
 I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
for thine is the kingdom,
and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

*CLOSING HYMN            O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee    No. 430
1. O Master, let me walk with thee
in lowly paths of service free;
tell me thy secret; help me bear
the strain of toil, the fret of care.
2. Help me the slow of heart to move
by some clear, winning word of love;
teach me the wayward feet to stay,
and guide them in the homeward way.
3. Teach me thy patience; still with thee
in closer, dearer company,
in work that keeps faith sweet and strong,
in trust that triumphs over wrong;
4. In hope that sends a shining ray
far down the future’s broadening way,
in peace that only thou canst give,
with thee, O Master, let me live.

We express our Christian love and sympathy to Linda Breedlove and her family
